About Dr. Tanya Hudson
Naturopath in Portland
Becoming a Naturopathic Doctor
My passion to become a doctor started around age 8. I was the playground first aid, running to get Band-Aids and ice packs if someone tripped or skinned a knee. Looking back, I see how much this was ingrained in me. It was my calling, and here I am.
I have been a naturopathic doctor since 2006. My journey to naturopathic medicine started in 1998, when I saw my first ND. I was studying for the Medical School Admissions Test (MCAT), living in downtown Portland, Oregon, with the ultimate goal of becoming a pediatrician.
After an exuberant call from my best friend telling me about something called “naturopathic medicine,” I decided to visit my first “natural” doctor. I had no idea what I was getting into.
And I will be forever grateful, that I made this appointment. I instantly fell in love with this functional medicine, focused on getting to the root cause, educating the patient, using natural medicines from the earth, talking about nourishing foods, mindset, and making lasting changes for life-long health.
This was the medicine I wanted to practice. I knew I wanted time with my patients, to get to know them and their families, and to empower them on their healing journey. This medicine enabled me to be my true self and live out my life’s calling.
“Every small step forward is momentum, taking you to the top of the mountain, where you feel strong, healthy, alive,
and truly YOU.”

When away from my office, I find pure joy in spending time with my dear husband, amazing sons, and sweet Brittany, our springerdoodle. To be a mother is a gift I will forever cherish.
My idea of a perfect day is hiking with my family in the Columbia River Gorge, forest bathing, and being among the flowers, trees, lakes, and rivers. There are no words to express the way nature touches my soul.
